Abstract

As per Agriculture Census 2015-16, India has over 14.6 crore farmers out of which 12.56 crore are Small and Marginal farmers, those
who operate on holding lower than two hectare. On 1 February-2019,government announced an Assured Income Support Programme what is known as PM-Kisan Scheme meant for Small and Marginal farmers.Under this Scheme, each SMF will be provided Rs.6000/- direct cash transfer to their Adhar-enabled Jan Dhan Bank Account in three equal instalments of Rs.2000/- each every four months in a financial year. This money is meant for buying Farm Inputs like Seeds, Fertilizers, and Agrochemicals or just to meet their other needs. Operational Guidelines specifying “Exclusion” of certain categories of non-eligible land holder farmer family is shown in Table-1. Details of eligible farmers' family are uploaded on the dedicated website: http://pmkisan.nic.in. PM-Kisan is fully centrally funded Scheme.
