ABSTRACT

The situation  arises due to COVID-19 contaminants in the country and views expressed by different workers about its impact on the dairy sector  have been reviewed here to make the future strategy. The problems faced by  dairy sector like :decline in the demand of milk and milk products, transport restrictions leads to shortage of feed for livestock, simultaneously increase the price of  feeds and fodders, does not leave  any room for dairy farmers to escape from this situation. The migration of  labourers and other people from  city / working place to their native place, halted the activities of tea shops, hotels, restaurants,  sweet shops etc; make the situation more complicated  for animal keepers as   they are not able to sell the milk as well as to sell the un-productive / surplus animals in the market, which leads to increased additional burden of maintaining these animals, during this difficult period of  lockdown. Therefore, efforts were made to know the situation of dairy farmers across the country.
