Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyzing the availability of sources, services and ICT  infrastructure facilities in Government First Grade College (GFGC) libraries affiliated to Kuvempu  University.  Design/methodology/approach: Data-gathering tools used included questionnaire, observation and  informal interview with selected college librarians. Findings: The present study analyzes the availability of various collections (print and non – print),  services, and ICT infrastructure in the libraries. The paper also identifies the status of library  automation, classification, cataloguing and also the source of finance.  Originality/value: This is a comprehensive study on the availability of information sources, services  and ICT infrastructure in college libraries. Its findings should help college librarians, local government  and also the University Grants Commission, New Delhi for giving more physical and financial  infrastructure for the overall development of the libraries to fulfil the user needs.
