Abstract

The purpose of this study is to show the importance of web services towards libraries. A brief  description of Web Services, different resources of web based services has been discussed  followed by the present scenario and future of Web Based Services in India. Web services  provide many benefits to library community, but majority of these benefits need  standardisation of web-based services and active involvement/participation of library staff.  The findings of this paper make library community aware of available web resources for  libraries and influence them to actively involve, and participate in the orientation programmes  and thereby enhance the quality of library activities and develop the productivity of research  work.
