The Efficacy of Homoeopathic Medicines in Management of Osteoarthritis with the help of Repertories

Abstract

Back Ground 

Osteoarthritis is the result of mechanical and biological phenomena that disrupt the equilibrium between the synthesis and degradation of cartilage, subchondral bone and all of the connective tissues of the joint (synovium, ligaments, tendons, muscles, etc.). Homoeopathic treatment for osteoarthritis gives very good and effective results. 

Objectives 

1. To establish the role of Repertories in cases of Osteoarthritis. Special emphasis on general repertories. 
2. To analyze the Miasmatic concept in cases of Osteoarthritis. 
3. To understand the Efficacy of Homoeopathic Medicines in Management of Osteoarthritis. 

Method 

50 patients were taken up for this study after being diagnosed to have osteoarthritis with the help of complete history and clinical examination of patients and performing absolute laboratory investigation (X ray) and managed with Homoeopathic remedies. 

Results 

Out of 50 patients studied, the age group between 60 – 69 years had maximum number of cases i.e. 16 cases (32%), maximum cases were female patients i.e. 27 cases (54%), maximum cases were observed of knee OA i.e. 35 cases (70%) & Maximum cases of Osteoarthritis are of Sycotic i.e.14 cases (28%).
